- Abstract
Women occupied high prestige and wide fame in Arab history before Islam, which historians and biographers didn't ignore. A lot of women figures gained high social prestige and were of noble descent among their people in the Arab history. One of these women figures was Amrah bint Saad bin Abdullah Albgeliah, her name was well known among historians and Arab muslim writers of family histories, among other figures they were proud of writing their history. Despite of the rare details about this historical figure, she enjoyed being a mother of large and famous tribes that reached high prestige in Arab history before Islam. This gained their mother, Amrah, great honour. Many noble figures raced to marry her because of her prestige in her tribe, despite of the difficult terms which Amrah had put for marriage. This is a clear evidence of the high prestige that Amrah had reached which ingraved a finger print in the memory of history, and painted a picture of Arab women that gives an impression of women's place and the freedom and opinion they used to enjoy, which maybe within a narrow scale of few women but at least it was there.
