- Abstract
This study investigated the effects of Industry 4.0 and smart factories, one of its essential components, on labor relations. In this context, it is expected that some professions will disappear and some new professions will emerge, especially with the development of automation. In addition, this process is foreseen to affect labor relations in many ways, especially its effects on working conditions, the transformation of professions, employment, unemployment, unionization, wages, and income distribution. In order for digitalization and automation not to have adverse effects on the labor market, it is recommended to increase the training to increase the quality of the workforce, to make human resources planning according to the professions that will be needed in the business life, to prevent the decrease in wages, and to prevent the problems that may arise by making all the legal and institutional arrangements required by the new production process. Governments, trade unions, non-governmental organizations and scientists should assume essential responsibilities in this context.
