- Title
PROSPECTIVE TRIAL TO IDENTIFY OPTIMAL BLADDER CANCER SURVEILLANCE PROTOCOL: REDUCING COSTS WHILE MAXIMIZING SENSITIVITY.
- Authors
van Rhijn, Bas W.G.
- Abstract
The author discusses various researches which aim to develop urine markers for optimal bladder cancer (BC) identification. The author says that the markers being developed possess lower specificity and higher sensitivity than conventional cytology. Furthermore, he relates the study by Ashish M. Kamat and colleagues which reveals cystourethroscopy (CUS) as the most cost-effective surveillance strategy for the diagnosis of non-muscle-invasive BC (NMIBC).
