- Abstract
The paper surveys the activities conducted by the AILC/ICLA Executive Committee in the run-up to the 23rd AILC/ ICLA Congress, held as a hybrid event in Tbilisi, Georgia, from 24–29 July 2022. Its main focus is research into the global phenomenon of the world literature from the perspectives of terminology and semantics. Moreover, it provides information on the activities of the Czech-Slovak Association of Comparatists following the 2019 Congress held in Macao, China, specifically, on the preparation of the English version of World Literature Studies (2/2022), entitled World Literature from the “small” and “great” literatures. The legitimate purpose of this volume is to objectify the historical experience of Central and East European literatures, where particular texts gain “world” repute otherwise than the ʻgreat ̕ works that can rely on economic pressure and the linguistic hegemony of English. Conjointly, it will bring honour to the vernacular tradition of literary researches into world literature in Central and East Europe.
