- Title
Endurance Exercise, the Fountain of Youth, and the Mitochondrial Key.
- Authors
Jones, Simon
- Abstract
The article reports on a study which showed that endurance exercise can prevent the signs of premature aging in every tissue and organ system of the body. It states that accumulations of mitochondrial DNA mutations result in cellular crisis and progressive decline in tissue and organ function, and that such accumulations can be decreased by exercise. The study involving mice reportedly provided evidence that exercise is the most potent anti-aging therapy.
