- Title
Overcoming the Reimbursement Barriers for Clinical Sequencing.
- Authors
Deverka, Patricia A.; Kaufman, David; McGuire, Amy L.
- Abstract
The authors argue on the reimbursement barriers in genomic tests using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies in the U.S. They note that payers, including Medicare and commercial insurers, are concerned that NGS-based tests exceed evidence of clinical utility. They also present a four-pronged approach to overcome these barriers which include conducting validation studies to establish analytic and clinical validity of tests and creating a system to assess clinical utility.
