- Abstract
The article focuses on the study regarding the assessment of the sustained virological response (SVR) in the mortality of the patients who are suffering with chronic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection and advanced hepatic fibrosis. It informs that HCV infection is the major cause of cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver diseases and mentions that approximately 25 percent of the patients in the U.S. with HCV infection have cirrhosis. The study reveals that SVR is associated with improved survival in patients with chronic HCV infections and advanced hepatic fibrosis. It also presents several tables which lists the virological response with SVR and without SVR in the patients.
