The article investigates when and where the contacts between speakers of Germanic and Proto-Slavic occurred. It traces the location of the Proto-Slavic homeland and the time and direction of their movements from their homeland into areas where they came in contact with Germanic tribes. These include the Goths in Scandinavia, the Huns of the Central tribes and the Avars.
