An essay is presented on the manuscript context and codex of the Middle Dutch fabliaux in the Netherlands. It explores several Dutch tales and discusses the manuscript context and the codex transmission of these tales. It examines the representation of the female characters in the tales on sexuality, sensitivity, and deception highlighting a negative opinion on women. It looks into the significance of fabliaux in their manuscript context for the early readers and listeners at that time.
