The article discusses whether landlords have a legal obligation to safeguard the sensitive information of lessees in the U.S. Topics discussed include measures of an individual from safeguarding themselves from becoming the victims of identity theft; enactment of Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Uniform Electronic Transaction Act for preventing the same; and an account of corporations which were victims of identity theft.
