- Abstract
All mining activity occurs due to its specific, multiple and varied adverse effects on the environment and consequently on population, as exemplified by: changes in the landscape, occupying large areas of land for operating activities, stockpiles, storage minerals, industrial plants, roadways etc., land degradation, watershed polluted surface and groundwater, the groundwater hydrodynamic imbalance, negative influences on the atmosphere, flora and fauna, soil chemical pollution, noise, vibration and radiation spread into the environment, with a strong adverse action. Roşiuţa coal pit is part of the Motru coal pits whose activity performed within the current lignite coal pit and has a capacity of about 3 million tons per year.
