ENGAGEMENT FOR ITS OWN SAKE?
- Abstract
The article focuses on the policy of the U.S. towards the military junta in Myanmar. It is stated that the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama reviewed its policy towards Myanmar and concluded that the approach of isolating Myanmar was not productive. The administration believed that sanctions cannot be removed if there was no progress on democracy and human rights. Advocates of dialogue with the Junta including U.S. Senator Jim Webb welcomed the new effort of the administration.
