- Abstract
This paper presents a conception of the torque transmission diagnostic system for electric traction vehicles. The system is based on the induction motor mechanical speed and load torque observers. The system is oriented to be used in the high-speed train drives. The observers are applied for 1.2 MW AC electric drives with squirrel-cage induction motor. The goal of using the observers is to apply the computed variables for diagnostic purposes. In the paper the propositions of the diagnostic criteria are described The analyzed system can work as speed sensorless in the case of existing sensor faults. The motor load torque is used to limit the maximum motor torque in case of gear faults. The simulation and experimental results for 1.2 MW traction drive are presented
