- Abstract
The aim of this study was to elicit pre-service primary teachers' knowledge level about measurement and assessment. A survey research methodology was employed in the current study. The study group consists of 80 senior pre-service primary teachers. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 11 open-ended questions. Qualitative data were analyzed using descriptive analysis technique. The findings of this study have shown that most of preservice primary teachers preferred to use assessment methods such as essay, multiple-choice test types and question-answer technique to determine students' success and performance. In this study, it was determined that most of pre-service primary teachers did not have sufficient knowledge about alternative assessment methods. Thus, pre-service primary teachers should not only be given opportunities to experience these kinds of assessment methods and but also to practice them during their education period.
