- Abstract
The creation of the universe, the formation of the world and the occurrence process of life in the context of cosmology have been one of the main subjects studied, observed and researched from past to present. In this context, the cosmography-cosmology-based manuscript named “Acâ'ibü'l-Mahlûkat and Garâ'ibü'l-Mevcudat” which is among the “Works with the Topic of Science”, by the geographer, astronomy scholar and traveller Al-Qazwini and various miniatures, determines the framework of the research. Concepts such as "What Does the World Stand On?" or "The Animal Carrying the World on Its Back", which are among the phenomena within these boundaries, have occasionally been the subject of belief systems, creation mythologies, various manuscripts and miniatures of different cultures that lived in the past. Today, in this context, the miniature illustrated copies, which are archived with catalogue numbers A.3632, R.1088 and H.409, which are similar to each other, in which the "Order and Creation of the Universe" are depicted, are kept in the Topkapı Palace Museum Library. The pictorial analysis of the universe phenomenon within the framework of plastic arts, based on the cosmography-themed miniatures forms the main centre of the research.
