- Abstract
The article discusses the social, cultural and legal issues encountered by both lawfully and unlawfully immigrants who were victims of domestic violence seeking divorce from their spouses in the U.S. It mentions a case wherein Alicia, an immigrant from El Salvador, filed a divorce against his American citizen husband who beaten and threatened her during their marriage. It notes that Ayuda, an organization for domestically violated immigrant victims, helped Alicia won her divorce case.
