- Abstract
The article discusses the programme activities of local health personnel and the burden on the rural health district of Douentza in Mali. Vitamin A distribution, hygiene practices, monthly meetings, training about guinea worm, and training related to the monitoring of tuberculosis patients are all examined. The article concludes that various disease oriented strategies which attempt to target specific health problems may be detrimental to the overall functioning of the rural health system.
