- Abstract
The article focuses on the status of the Urdu language in India. It notes that Urdu involves elements of Arabic and Persian languages and is born because of multiculturalism. Indians are said to believe that Urdu is an alien language and that it has helped in bringing the partition of the nation. According to one theory for the origin of Urdu, it is transferred to Delhi through Muslims in 1193 and the proof is that old Urdu and Punjabi languages are similar.
