- Authors
GROVES, JOHN
- Abstract
The article discusses the concept of techno-corporate humanism, which emerged in the 1990s and has since become dominant in the political center and among liberals. Techno-corporate humanism promotes advanced technology, corporate expansion, neoliberal economics, bureaucratic growth, market logic, and consolidation of power. It claims to advocate for a diverse, rational, and democratic world, but its implementation has led to inequality, ecological destruction, and the erosion of faith in government. The article provides examples of how techno-corporate humanism has influenced various sectors, including higher education, local politics, non-profits, healthcare, and firefighting. It also highlights the co-optation of left movements by mainstream institutions and the shift of activism to the online sphere.
