- Abstract
The article profiles Drid Williams, an 80-year-old social anthropologist, with emphasis on her contributions to the anthropology of human movement, a subfield of sociocultural anthropology that she developed and nurtured. Some of her pioneering efforts in social anthropology are discussed, including developing the theoretical approach, semasiology. Several of her writings are cited, including "Anthropology of the Dance," "Readings in the Anthropology of Human Movement" and "The Study of Dances."
