- Abstract
The article provides information about Neusticomys monticolus, a mammalian species from the order of rodent. Included are information about its general characteristics, geographical distribution, form and function, ontogeny and reproduction, and ecology and behavior. N. monticolus can be distinguished from other Neusticomys by its dull grayish black pelage, narrower rostrum, shorter head and body and smaller incisors. Its geographical distribution is noted to be limited to the Andes of Columbia and Equador, while its conservation status is listed as lower risk and least concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.
