- Abstract
The article discusses the discovery of the American hart's-tongue fern, a rare species primarily found in the Great Lakes region, in a lava tube in New Mexico. The fern population in the lava tube is thriving and protected within a national monument. This discovery challenges our understanding of how ferns establish in dry regions and raises questions about the taxonomic affinities of these populations. Further research is needed to explore these findings.
