- Abstract
The article presents a critical analysis of the themes of humanism and posthumanism within the 12-book Arthurian poetry cycle "Idylls of the King," by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Topics addressed include the cosmological and anthropological considerations of the work in Tennyson's intentions, how the poetry cycle can simultaneously be read as humanist or posthumanist, and the influence of Charles Darwin's evolutionary theories at the time of its composition.
