- Title
LAWFARE AND LEGAL ETHICS IN GUANTÁNAMO.
- Authors
Luban, David
- Abstract
The article discusses government policies that made it more difficult for lawyers to provide legal representation to Guantánamo prisoners in Cuba. It cites conversations that the author had with several of the Guantánamo lawyers. Among the difficulties faced by the lawyers include policies designed to reduce their access to their clients, policies that create knotty ethical difficulties for commission defense lawyers and practices that are designed to drive a wedge between lawyers and their clients. It describes some of the broader issues of professional ethics at stake in these cases.
