Unusual Causes of Osteoporosis.
- Authors
Ralston, Stuart H.; Rizzoli, Rene
- Abstract
The issue starts with the review by Hardcastle [[1]] on pregnancy-associated osteoporosis, a rare but devastating condition for women who are affected, which most commonly presents with multiple vertebral fractures. The special issue closes with an authoritative review by Biver [[8]] on osteoporosis in HIV infection, covering the epidemiology, pathophysiology and management of this disorder. Osteoporosis predominantly affects postmenopausal women and older men, but it occasionally may occur in other groups of individuals.
