- Abstract
The article discusses a study by researcher G. Mascré and colleagues concerning the existence of two cell populations that differ in gene-expression profile, proliferative dynamics, and ability to repair epidermis after injury. It states that they used genetic lineage tracing to investigate the location, proliferation, origin, and fate of mouse-tail epidermis' stem cells. Study confirms the long-lived quiescent stem cells in epidermis that have different proliferative abilities.
