- Abstract
The article features the socialism of Jewry. According to the author, the sociological study of Jewry has evolved from both Jewish studies and the social sciences. Sociology of Jewry provides an understanding of human society and is applicable to all societies at all points in time. The determinants and consequences of modernization and transformation of lives of people and generational transmission of Jewish values and culture is analysed. The comparative study of Jews provides understanding of general processes of western development. The transformation of the Jewish community in the process of modernization is narrated. The varying relationships betweeen ethnic and religious dimensions of Jewish identity is also depicted.
