- Title
Elongation stopped in its tracks.
- Abstract
The article reports on the first high-resolution structure determined by researchers for a bacterial transcription elongation complex (EC). Scientists found that the pincers of the crab-claw-like structure of RNA polymerases are closed in the EC. It likewise claims that the channel closure could induce the reciprocity between polymerase and nucleic acid chains. Moreover, researchers note that the elongation process may pause before terminating.
