- Title
Tolerance: How AIRE wakes up sleepy genes.
- Authors
Minton, Kirsty
- Abstract
The article discusses the study which shows new model on how autoimmune regulator (AIRE) regulates the transcriptional waking of peripheral tissue antigen genes in medullary thymic epithelial cells (mTECs). The researchers highlight the 45 AIRE-interacting proteins that could clustered into four functional groups. In this regard, AIRE promotes associated proteins that wake up the silent chromatin by linking to chromatic remodelling, transcriptional elongation and pre-mRNA processing complexes.
