- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the 2009 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between China and the U.S. on China's domestic cultural property protection. It provides a background on the 1970 UNESCO Convention on the illicit trade of cultural property. The 1983 Cultural Property Implementation Act set procedures by which the president may form bilateral agreements to protect cultural property abroad by means of U.S. customs restrictions. Also discussed is the auction of personal collection of fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent by Christie's in 2009.
