- Abstract
The article presents "The Ballad of Emmett Till," designed as a fast-paced series of personal and first-accounts of Emmett Till's saga where the narrative is told through speech interlaced with song. The ballad is a story of Emmett's quest and his pursuit of happiness, liberty and of life. It is based on the 1955 Mississippi murder of Till who whistled at a white woman. His mother's decision for an open-casket funeral is believed that have started the modern Civil Rights Movement.
