- Title
Filming the Elegy: Elegiac Horror in A Ghost Story.
- Authors
Bursztajn-Illingworth, Zoe
- Abstract
The author discusses the elegy structure in the ghost story film as of 2023. Topics covered include the film "A Ghost Story's" adaptation of the elegy as an engagement with the history of Manifest Destiny in the American West, the modern elegy's characterization of mourning as unresolved, violent and resistant to closure, and its focus on the present as it provides consolation. Also noted is elegy's presence across media in which it bridges individual and collective loss.
