- Abstract
Shear wave velocity of rock and soil is a crucial parameter in the fields of geological engineering, seismic engineering, and engineering exploration. In this study, we qua nt itatively investiga te the relationship bet ween shear wave velocity and burial depth for six common types of soil in Class H sites in the Yulin area, using 218 borehole data as the research foundation. Parameters are optimized using the least squares method, and goodness of fit, root mean square error, and median error are employed as evaluation metrics. Based on these findings, we provide recommended functional models and their applicable ranges. To validate the reliability of our proposed model, we compare it with two commonly used models using borehole data from two engineering sites. The resuIts demonstrate a significa nt positive correla tion bet ween shear wave velocity and burial depth for d 讦 fere nt soil t ypes in the study area. The correla tion pa/tt erns bet ween burial depth and shear wave velocity vary for different rock types and should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. After optimizing the model parameters and comparing three model evaluation metrics, we find that a third-degree polynomial expression is more suitable. This research contributes to a better understanding of the rela tionship bet ween shear wave velocity and burial depth in rock and soil, offering valuable insights for engineering projec ts in the Yulin area.
