- Abstract
The articles presents four issues about historic preservation in the state of New York. The implementation of the zoning laws and the Landmarks Preservation Law passed in 1956 are discussed. The topic on air right transfers provide examples on when it is allowed such as those sites that are merged with larger zoning area. Also discussed is the use of the word aesthetics in making laws related to historical preservation, also known as the Bard law, and the responsibility of the Landmarks Preservation Commission in making aesthetic judgments.
