- Abstract
The article discusses the functions and practices of a television network. Each network provides a schedule of programs to its affiliates, arranging for the physical interconnection necessary to carry network programs to the television stations for broadcast to the viewing public within their service areas. Networks bring news, information, and education to the public free of charge. The economic aspects of a television network's operations include the distribution of the revenues accruing to the network and the relationship between network broadcasting and the advertiser. Several network practices including television network revenues and monopoly, the must buy practice, and option time have also been discussed.
