The present work focuses on three Mexican writers in the Diccionario de Autoridades (Dictionary of Authorities) (1726-1739), by providing information about the authors and their work. Secondly, it describes how academics authorized words in the Dictionary from two points of view: numerically and the use of "Americanisms". Finally, it tries to explain some nuances that the concept of "authority" involves.
