- Abstract
The article discusses Armory show in America. Armory Show of 17 February to 15 March 1913, held at the 69th Regiment Armory in New York City, with its exhibition of over 1200 European and American art works, is frequently viewed as the first introduction of mainstream modern art to America, and thus the formal beginning of the modernist revolt against the academy tradition. The Armory was clearly significant. That was the first time America came abreast of European developments. Before this, American art had managed to absorb European influences a decade or more after those forces had reached their height abroad.
