- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of music in soothing a troubled infant. It mentions that music is a mood stabiliser and can influence the temperament of a person. It notes that mothers have used lullabies to soothe, enliven and quiet their infants, but are sometimes forgotten when infants are fractious and difficult to settle. It adds that lullabies have the power to bond relationships between the mother and the infant as the moment allows mothers and infants to gaze into each other's eyes. It observes that the commercial sector has addressed this tradition by offering resources with recordings of classical symphonies and products that stimulate the cerebral functions of the infant.
