- Abstract
This article presents part of the reflections of a Master's dissertation research in Design in development and proposes a discussion about the concepts associated with the notion of national and regional identity, specifically the Brazilian and Amazonian identity and the use of its visual elements as a reference in the creation of Fashion products. We seek to reflect on the construction of Brazilian cultural identity by drawing a brief historical panorama on the construction of the idea of a nation, what symbolic values are produced and how they circulate in the national and international market, bringing as object the creation of Fashion Design products. The issue of Amazonian culture is part of the identity relationship discussed in this article, analyzing its symbolic construction and the appropriation of its elements associated with the national identity ideology.
