- Title
Warning--prescription drugs available to children on Internet.
- Abstract
Potentially dangerous and addictive controlled substances are apparently easily available over the Internet without a prescription to individuals of any age, according to a study released by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University, New York City. The report found that 90% of the sites selling controlled prescription drugs on the Internet did not require any prescription. It is important to note that these drugs have valid medical roles when prescribed and controlled properly under the supervision of a prescribing physician and are more likely to be dangerous and addictive when bought illegally and used by patients who are self-medicating.
