- Title
Opsins and cell fate in the Drosophila Bolwig organ: tricky lessons in homology inference.
- Authors
Friedrich, Markus
- Abstract
The article discusses the molecular genetic study of the mechanism which controls the differential opsin expression and cell fate determination in Drosophila larval eyes. It says that the drosophila larval and adult eyes use the same mechanism for the regulation of the opsin expression and photoreceptor cell specification. Moreover, significant lessons in the construction of homology between neural cell types and gene regulatory network evolution are being delivered by drosophila larval eyes.
