- Title
ADB Clears Debt.
- Abstract
The article reports on the African Development Bank's (ADBs) decision to cancel Liberia's debt of $255m. This action is done after the World Bank decided to clear all of Liberia's arrears. The ADB's president said that the decision is made to accelerate national development programmes. This measure will subsequently pave the way for the normalisation of relations between ADB and Liberia. Though Liberia still had outstanding debt services for the World Bank, the amount would be cleared during the Highly Indebted Poor Countries Initiatives (HIPC), said the finance minister Antoinette. Further information about Liberia's debt is offered.
