- Title
Pre-Election Funding.
- Abstract
The article reports about public finance in Kenya under president Mwai Kibaki. An appropriation equivalent to thirty million U.S. dollars has been set aside for the informal sector, and was announced during a reception in which Kibaki received representatives from the peddling and public transport sectors. Finance minister Amos Kimunya has received French economic assistance from the French Development Agency (AFD) equivalent to 10 million euros, which will be used to boost the microfinance sector and economic development projects. The funds will be implemented over the long-term and are not linked to the general elections, according to Kimunya.
