LA MÚSICA COMO INSTANCIA RELATORA. SUS APORTACIONES A LA MÍMESIS EN LA ÓPERA DECIMONÓNICA.

- Abstract
Though semiotics cannot explain music as a whole, sounds are integrated in multiple ways in the semiosphere. Following conventional criteria, we call music only some of these ways of integration. Between other possibilities of the musical semiosis, 19th century opera allows music to lead the action as a narrator, at least in those cases in which it takes part as a diegetic mediator between theater mimesis and the receptor. Several examples are shown in which music takes part in the mimesis in diverse degrees, and some others in which it assumes a different role, possibly diegetic, that is narrative.
