- Title
Nominal prosodic paradigms and their synchronic reflexes in West Slavic.
- Authors
Feldstein, Ronald F.
- Abstract
The author discusses the synchronic reflexes of nominal prosodic paradigms in Western Slavic languages which have been recoding the older pitch accents into quantitative oppositions. He states that the shortened state of acute and recessive forms in Western Slavic language has maintained the length of pretonic and neo-acute paradigms. The author notes that the retention of prosodic syllables is based on non-tonal stress accent.
