- Authors
Zacharasiewicz, Waldemar
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the tradition and function of heterostereotypes in North American fiction which depicts ugliness, crime, and pathology over the banality of everyday life. It states that American fiction writers utilize their European impressions for a fictional analysis of the contrast and manners and values in the old and new worlds by considering stereotype figures in their works. It states that the rise of social realism is implied in the local color tradition of ethnic minorities.
