- Abstract
The article discusses a research study on several factors than can predict the attainment of bachelor's degree among the rural youth who attend four-year institutions. Researchers addressed questions including one about the different background traits and experiences of rural youth and urban youth, their effects on the completion of college degrees and the difference of predictors in attaining a college degree among urban and rural youths. Data used include those from the 1998-2000 National Education Longitudinal Study (NELS), the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and the Postsecondary Education Transcript Study (PETS). Results showed differences in high school preparation of youths in the rural area at 66.10%, urban youth at 67.85% and suburban youth at 67.84%.
