- Abstract
The article discusses the Chinese's acquisition of land to be used for agricultural purposes in Mozambique from the mid 2000s through 2012. Chinese consumption of Mozambique food exports, including China's importation of rice and the country's removal of tariffs on imports from Mozambique, is discussed. An overview of the economic relations between the Chinese and Mozambique governments, including the former's pledge to modernize latter's agriculture and in regard to Chinese investments in Mozambique, is provided.
