- Abstract
The article discusses the report "Violence Against Women by Their Intimate Partner During Pregnancy and Postnatal Depression: A Prospective Cohort Study," by A. B. Ludermir and colleagues that appeared in "Lancet." Data from the population-based study, which was conducted in Pernambuco, Brazil, are presented, which includes statistics related to the percentage of Brazilian women who experienced postpartum depression as a result of psychological abuse by an intimate partner during pregnancy and the types of abuse reported by the study's participants, such as physical, sexual, and psychological.
