- Abstract
The article presents a study which analyzes the diet composition of 10 Indian wolves (Canis lupus pallipes) on the basis of hair reference key of local wild and domestic mammals in Baltistan, Pakistan. The study uses scat analysis and stomach contents to evaluate the diets of mammalian predators. Results show the frequency of occurrence of six species of Indian wolf and that yak was the most preferred food item of Indian wolf. Furthermore, the diet composition of wolves is important for understanding the predator prey relationship.
